Abstract

The chapter on Modesty has been placed in the 13th position of the book Virtue in Thirukkural. The Almighty God bestows the organs of our body. Although we can utilise our five senses as we wish, using them with restrictions and conditions would pave ways to make our life healthy. Even if several religions and principles have expressed several views on modesty, we can see similarities concerning it in the teachings of Thirukkural and Islam. The sole purpose of this research is to identify and highlight such similarities. Along with the descriptive research method, previously published books in this regard, magazines and research articles have been used as the secondary data for this research. This research aims to be useful and supportive for future scholars researching comparative religions.
