ஆய்வுச் சுருக்கம்

தேசிய தொடக்கப்பள்ளிகளில் தமிழ்மொழியை இரண்டாம் மொழியாகக் பயிலும் பிறமொழி மாணவர்கள் தமிழ் எழுத்துகளை எழுதுவதில் எதிர்நோக்கும் சிக்கல்களை அடையாளங்கண்டு பின்பு அச்சிக்கலுக்கான காரணங்களைப் பகுப்பாய்வு செய்வதே இவ்வாய்வின் நோக்கமாகும். இது ஒரு பண்புசார் ஆய்வாகும். தேசிய தொடக்கப்பள்ளிகளில் தமிழ்மொழிப்பாடத்தை இரண்டாம் மொழியாகப் போதிக்கும் எட்டு தமிழாசிரியர்களிடமிருந்து நேர்காணல் மூலம் ஆய்வுக்கான தரவுகள் சேகரிக்கப்பட்டன. இவ்வாய்வின் மூலம், தேசிய தொடக்கப்பள்ளிகளில் தமிழ்மொழியை இரண்டாம் மொழியாகப் பயிலும் பிறமொழி மாணவர்கள், தமிழ் எழுத்துகளை எழுதுவதில் வரிவடிவம், புள்ளி, தெளிவு, அளவு, தூய்மை/ அழகு, விரைவு/ தாமதம், இடைவெளி, சாய்வு ஆகிய கூறுகளில் சிக்கல்களை எதிர்நோக்குவதாக அடையாளங் காணப்பட்டன. மேலும், இச்சிக்கலுக்கான காரணங்களாகத் தனிநபர் காரணி, சுற்றுப்புறச் சூழல், பிறமொழி எழுத்துத் தாக்கம், பாடநேரப்பற்றாக்குறை மற்றும் பாடத்துணைபொருள் பற்றாக்குறை ஆகியவைக் கண்டறியபட்டுள்ளன. இவ்வாய்வின் மூலம் பெறப்பட்ட தரவுகள் வழி தமிழ்மொழியை இரண்டாம் மொழியாகக் போதிக்கும் ஆசிரியர்கள் தங்கள் மாணவர்கள் தமிழ் எழுத்துகளை எழுதுவதில் எதிர்நோக்கும் சிக்கல்களை முன்னரே அறிந்து கொண்டு அச்சிக்கல்களைக் களையத் தக்க அணுகுமுறைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தலாம்.

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to identify non-native students’ difficulties in writing Tamil letters and analyse the problems. The data for the analysis was collected through interviews with three National Primary School teachers currently teaching Tamil as a second language. The results of this study reflect the problems faced by non-native students in Tamil letter writing in terms of shape, point, clearness, size, neatness/ beauty, speed, distance and slant. Furthermore, individual factors, environmental factors, other language impacts, lack of lesson time and teaching materials were also found to be the reasons for these problems. The data obtained through this study will help teachers teaching Tamil as a second language to be aware of the problem faced by the students in writing Tamil letters and use suitable approaches to resolve them.
