Abstract

It is necessary to ascertain the educational achievement of the Indian community, the third largest ethnic group in Malaysia, at the secondary school level. Although there are many reasons for the disparities in the educational achievements of students, Internet usage plays an important role in their educational development. This paper examines the effect of internet usage as a significant aspect of teaching and learning activities, especially Malay language and history, which are compulsory subjects of SPM. Additionally, the students’ achievement in relation to internet access in socio-economic structure is analyzed. This research involving about 100 students in Selangor finds that internet access has played an essential role in passing the Malay language and history.
